  1. A proper diet can make managing high blood pressure or hypertension much easier. A potassium-rich diet may help to reduce hypertension or high blood pressure. But beware excessively high amounts of potassium is bad for the heart, and can cause rhythm problems. Potassium is good, but check with your doctor and take high blood pressure treatment also make sure your serum (blood) potassium doesn't get too high.

  2. Hi Karen,

What a great discussion topic; it serves to educate students about the health risks associated with hypertension, plus get them engaged in a meaningful dialog about their own health. The inclusion of the YouTube video is great—I like it when multimedia elements are included in a lesson—always makes it much more engaging and powerful.

Your discussion instructions are very specific and well-articulated. They are succinct, which is great, yet leave no question about what the assignment is or what needs to happen next. Good job. The only issue I had is that I could not access your rubric, although I’ve tried to pull it up twice tonight. I will try again tomorrow as I have had some minor technical problems lately with my laptop.

  3. Hi Kyle,

You made a great point about the quiz. The link needs to lead directly to the quiz. I believe short multimedia quizzes gives the learner the opportunity to reflect on their background knowledge about the topic. Great response to the discussion.

By the way I could not find your post on the blog.
